Arizona’s Hottest Blues Band… Dance to the Funky Blues!

Harrison Begay was born and raised in Tucson, Arizona, is full blooded Navajo (Dine’). His passion for blues music and the guitar have been the driving force in his quest for artistry. He started playing music at the age of eight. The clarinet being his first instrument. It would not be until the early years of high school that Harrison would pick up his first guitar.

Harrison first took the stage in 1999 at a blues jam in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Every week he returned and the audience wanted more. This was the time for him to learn, grow and work with other musicians. His first band would take on the name, “Colorblind”, a power trio that was complimented by the tasteful bass-lines of producer and recording engineer, Leo Okeke.
In the summer of 2000 Colorblind was called to fill a major time slot that opened up at the Tulsa Blues Festival at the historic Cain’s Ballroom . Wanting the exposure, his the band played for free. That night they brought the house down.

Sir Harrison’s music and stage performance has attracted a broad audience. His guitar playing is straight from the soul. He’s been compared to Albert Collins, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jimi Hendrix, Robert Cray, but Sir Harrison’s guitar playing has his own unique sound.
His current band, “Sir Harrison Blues Band”. The members are veteran musicians. Singer song-writer and drummer, Bam Bam, DBass former bassist for Sister Sledge, Jeremy on Sax. Together their music is a combination of rhythmic patterns, all in a motion created by Sir Harrison’s body language and soulful guitar riffs. It’s smooth, funky, rock-in and whole lot of blues power.

“A Salute To Glen Campbell” with former band leader, Jeff Dayton and former Glen Campbell Band members.

HONORING AN OLD FRIEND

Jeff’s years with Glen Campbell were filled with stories, shows and adventures, traveling and recording with one of America’s best-loved and most-respected country/pop artists of all time. It’s only natural that with Glen’s retirement since his Alzheimer’s diagnosis, there would be a demand for his music to still be heard. Jeff has been answering that call with some of his fellow band mates in….

A Salute To Glen Campbell

Led by Glen Campbell’s former right-hand man, Jeff calls on fellow alumni from the tours and together they share the joys and fun, the stories behind the songs and an intimate reflection on the pain of a great friend slipping away from us all.The show is filled with Glen’s hits, all performed by Glen Campbell band members and Jeff. A great show, if you loved Glen and his music, then this is a must see show!

The loss of his old buddy prompted Jeff to write this song “Long Slow Train Out of Town”

Jeff Dayton has been busy since his 15 plus years with Glen Campbell. In “A Salute To Glen Campbell” Jeff will tell the stories and play the music that he experienced with his 15years on the road and in the studio with the legendary Glenn Campbell!!

From the White House to the Wildhorse Saloon, Jeff has been playing guitar and performing all his life. He’s been a Nashville writer for fourteen years and thrives on the concentrated creative scene in Music City. His hometown roots in Minnesota and years in Arizona earned him a the job of bandleader with Hall of Fame artist Glen Campbell. He also found time to land his music degree, regional hit records and the honor of backing artists like Vince Gill, Buck Owens, Bo Diddley, Dizzy Gillespie, Willie Nelson, Gene Autry, Toby Keith and many more. Once relocating to Nashville, Jeff was soon touring with megastar Kenny Chesney, Lee Greenwood and others.

Today, Jeff is an active Nashville music producer, songwriter, session guitarist, touring artist and educator and tours as a dynamic solo artist.

Here is Jeff in a video with one of his favorites and ours… Tobey Kieth! (you can see Jeff playing the piano all through the video)

Gary Regina has been a professional musician for over 30 years.

Gary Regina

Gary Regina

As comfortable with straight-ahead jazz as he is with world beat, hip-hop, blues, swing, rock or funk, Gary’s abilities transcend many styles and genres, illustrating an incredible diversity of musical influences.

Gary led his own original bands for 18 years, whose styles ranged from acid jazz and new age to world beat. A pioneer of the world beat movement from the late 70s, Gary continues to incorporate world rhythms and influences into his compositions today.

Currently, Gary performs all over the United States and Australia, focusing on his multi-instrumental solo performance, which utilizes looping technology. Playing a wide variety of instruments (including woodwinds, ethnic flutes, saxophones, percussion, guitar, wind synthesizer and a drum machine), Gary creates unique soundscapes of trip-hop, world and ambient music. Then, with incredible creativity (and a little help from technology), the trance-like rhythmical sounds gradually build, looping on top of each other, until you are sure there are ten musicians! Your ears will have a hard time reconciling what they hear with what your eyes see

Calico The Band returns to Sedona AZ…

14192068_1025349867563187_5765046369402721768_nCALICO the band is a California band in the deepest, most natural sense of the term. Specifically, the moniker (all caps, please) is shorthand for California country—as if that weren’t vividly apparent from the first moments of Under Blue Skies, the group’s resonant, accomplished sophomore album, with its musical intricacy, lyrical eloquence and timeless immediacy. The thought-provoking, tightly harmonized songs of founder/leaders Manda Mosher and Kirsten Proffit exist in a continuum with the seminal form Gram Parsons famously dubbed Cosmic American Music.
The sound of Under Blue Skies is informed by the duo’s shared love of Crosby, Stills & Nash, the Eagles, the Everly Brothers, Fleetwood Mac and, of course, the Beatles. Their songwriting touchstones include Joni Mitchell (whose “Ladies of the Canyon” they cover on the album), Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Jackson Browne, The Band and Tom Petty. Mosher and Proffit feel so connected to this classic music that they’re able to bring it into the present tense and make it their own.

The partners are California natives with back stories so perfectly complementary they could’ve been scripted, the screenwriter inevitably rendering their predestined intersection as “second-generation hippie meets showbiz kid.” Proffit’s parents were nomadic hippies who roamed from Santa Cruz to Majorca, Spain, and back again with their little girl in tow. Mosher’s family on her mother’s side has been in California since the wagon-train era, while her grandfather was writer and creator of classic sitcoms including Leave It to Beaver and The Munsters. One key ingredient the two sets of parents had in common was their record collections, which shaped the two youngsters’ sensibilities in a profound and lasting way.

“We dug in deeper on this record from a songwriting standpoint,” Manda continues. “Because we’ve spent so much time together, we feel more comfortable expressing vulnerability in the lyrics; there are definitely more love songs. There’s certainly meaning to Rancho California, but it’s more broad strokes; on Under Blue Skies, we were able to dig in and get more personal.”

13719681_995551127209728_1957680710917594730_oKirsten and Manda had finished the record to their satisfaction when they came up with the entirely fitting idea of covering the Mamas & the Papas classic “California Dreamin’.” Just before Christmas 2016, they headed to Scott’s PLYRZ Studio in Santa Clarita with their rhythm section of Kamp and drummer Matt Lucich, augmented by a crew of all-star players including Greg Leisz on pedal steel, Neal Casal on 12-string electric, Patrick Warren on keys and Kaitlin Wolfberg.17390605_1257997800965058_8114201383796147815_o The partners dueted on the lead vocals, and the entire band provided lush, spirited backing harmonies. “It came out so great that we just had to add it to the record,” says Kirsten. The track’s inclusion turns out to be an inspired idea—the performance is ecstatic and suffused with communal spirit, and Scott captured it with characteristic verve and skillfulness.

The new album is further enriched by the mix, conducted with signature artistry and insightfulness by the renowned Jim Scott (Petty, Wilco) through his vintage Neve console.

CALICO’s LATEST HIT… “The 405”
Mosher and Proffit are the indigenous inheritors—and perpetuators—of a rich legacy, and their vision of California unfolds with widescreen Technicolor splendor on Under Blue Skies.

With Under Blue Skies, CALICO has made an album that slides seamlessly into my alphabetized record collection just after Jackson Browne, Tim Buckley, the Buffalo Springfield and the Byrds. Right where it belongs.
